biography

Born in Toronto, Shane began his broadcasting career in 1988 as a reporter/anchor at CKOS Television in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. After 18 months, Shane was off to CKPR Television in Thunder Bay. That’s where Shane got his first taste of big time television news, as a young reporter, he had the opportunity to cover the rise of little known candidate Lyn Mcleod to Ontario Liberal Leader.

From Thunder Bay, Shane moved west to 2&7 Television in Lethbridge Alberta. A year and a half later he was off again. This time CKVR Television in Barrie, Ontario came calling. Broadcasting into and covering stories in and around Toronto gave Shane the chance to work in a highly competitve market, and hone his skills.

The lure of the west was too much, and in 1997. Shane was off again. As a 31 year-old Shane played a leadership role in the launch of “A-Channel” Edmonton. He co-hosted a live daily hour long news magazine show, as well as covered the Alberta legislature.

After just 8 months, beautiful British Columbia and a great opportunity presented themselves. Shane became bureau chief for Global Television at the Provincial Legislature in Victoria. After two exciting years, Global moved Shane to Vancouver in 2000. He has been here ever since.

During his time in BC, Shane has covered some of the biggest stories the province has seen. Politics, crime, human drama, shane was always at the front of the pack.
